FAQ

  • Where are you based?

I'm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and frequently travel to Los Angeles; either of those places are my home base.

  • Do you travel?

Indeed! I love any excuse to travel. Depending on the distance from San Francisco or Los Angeles, 1 or 2 nights lodging is usually all that's needed. If you're having a destination wedding or one that requires a flight, let's talk.

  • How much retouching do you do?

I'll lightly edit and enhance your whole batch of images so they look their best, while still maintaining a natural aesthetic. I'll remove some distracting elements like the random cilantro leaf in between your teeth, but for more extensive retouching, I'll wait to hear which photos are your favorite and retouch those as needed. Most often the images don't need extra attention once they are presented to you.

  • We're not photogenic—how do you deal with that?

I don't believe that anyone is "un-photogenic"—I'll photograph you from a variety of angles, sometimes looking at the camera, other times interacting with each other. I'll engage with you so that you drop your guard and relax in front of the camera. I may even have you do a little wiggle to loosen your shoulders if you're stiff.

  • When will we receive our images? About how many can we expect?

You'll receive the images 4-8 weeks after your wedding, depending on the season. The editing process takes time, as I enhance each image individually and only present the best. I average around 75 images an hour, so if I'm photographing a 6 hour wedding, you can expect around 450 images or more. You can expect your city hall wedding images in 2-3 weeks.

  • Do you have backup gear?

Yes! I've been around the block long enough to know that you need backup for everything, and I have it.

  • Do you photograph other types of events? What about head shots?

Yes and yes! I shoot other types of events; this site is primarily focused on my wedding work, but I do it all! Editorial work and portraits can be found here.

  • Ok we dig you. How do we book you?

Get in touch by filling out the contact form or emailing me at lydia@danillerphotography.com—I usually reply within 24 hours, if not sooner.
